Mudcats 7 - 15u Cats 5 (scrimmage)

In a fun game Wednesday night that featured numerous players on both teams from this year's Grand Blanc JV squad, the Mudcats came up with a 7-5 comeback win over the 15u Grand Blanc Cats. Andrew Morningstar closed out the game with three innings of shutout relief to pick up the win, and Jack Scribner went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs to lead the Mudcats to victory.

The Cats jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings, as the Mudcats seemed sluggish out of the gate. In the fourth inning, Scribner led off with a single and eventually scored on Morningstar's RBI ground out. The Cats answered with one in their half of the fourth to make it 5-1.

In the fifth inning, Keagan Titmuss got a one out single, and courtesy runner Kyle Genord was forced at second on Tim Hayden's fielder's choice. Tyler Hitchcock and Jason Caine each walked to load the bases with two outs for Scribner, who doubled home two to make it 5-3.

The Mudcats tied the game in the sixth when Morningstar walked with one out, followed by back-to-back RBI doubles from Brian Caine & Genord.

With it tied in the seventh, the Cats brought on flame-throwing pitcher, Ryder Brotebeck. After Hitchcock struck out to lead off the inning, Jason Caine walked. Scribner then doubled him home, stole third, and scored on a wild pitch to make it 7-5 before Brotebeck struck out the final two Mudcats.

Morningstar retired the first batter in the bottom of the seventh on a fly out to right. He then recorded his sixth strikeout of the night before nicking Brotebeck's jersey with a pitch. He got the next batter to ground to Titmuss at 3rd though, with Scribner scooping a low throw out of the dirt to close out the win.
